  richard dawkins revealed that he celebrates christmas on radio four's today programme.. here is is quoted as saying: .

  'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.

  'i might sing christmas carols - once i was privileged to be invited to kings college, cambridge, for their christmas carols and loved it.

  I believe Sea Breeze was speaking in the vernacular when using the expression "God's birthday."

  I guess I could have used the term the Creators' Birthday. The Deity, Death, Burial, & Resurrection of Jesus is the earliest Christology. Anything that denies that, is simply not of Christian origin. Only God could resurrected himself from the dead...which is what Jesus predicted he would do. That is what this is all about. Nothing more, nothing less.

  Anyway, it's almost God's birthday. Thank you God for taking on human flesh and forever existing from that time forward in the person of Jesus, son of Mary.

  @TonusOH, They are facts, accepted by scholars who are Jewish, Christian and skeptic. Get over it. No one is immune to scruitny. Like any atheist all you have to do is provide plausible explanations for the historical FACTS surrounding the resurrection in order to be taken seriously. If you are unable or unwilling, what exactly is the problem with getting on board?

  Ad Hominem atttacks are universally known to be an admittance of FAILURE to provide anything of substance. If you really want to promote natural materialism, all you have to do is come up with plausible explanations for the facts surrounding the resurrection of Jesus.

  It should be simple, right?

  Here's what I believe after 60 years on this planet. I believe the most fundamental feature of humans is their ability to lie. They lie to others all the time, but mostly they lie to themselves.

  Atheists are never acknowleged to exist in the bible. They are described as people who speak to themselves certain lies. "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God". This is known by science as the psychological device known as "suppression". In other words, It is a mental illness; likely caused by some real or imagined trauma.

  There are dozens of ways to utterly destroy any rational basis for atheism. DNA is only one. It has multiple codes that can be read frontwards, backwards and even three-dimensionally. It is equivalent to reading an encyclopedic set of 175 volumes, then turning the books upside down and starting from the back, reading new information, then ripping out all the pages and throwing them in a pile and the places where the pages touch each other create a new three dimensional code of information.

  Atheists ask their neighbors to follow them in their delusions and believe that it came from literally nothing.

  People who lie will always tell on themselves when they talk. Atheists claim that an explosion of unguided nothingness created rules of logic, reason, mathematics and many other non-tangible foundations of our existence. But, atheists don't rely on the chance and happenstance they SAY they believe in that gave them these gifts in life. And the reason is that in their heart of hearts, atheists know that reason, math, and logic are not artifacts of exploded nothingness, but rather a reliable description of the way God's mind works. In this way, atheists let it slip that they really do know God. It is hypocritical to rely on logic as a "correct" guide while at the same time claiming that it is an artifact of chance, which is what they SAY they believe in. Their practices give them away.

  But, the ultimate hypocrisy will occur here in a few days when atheists enjoy all the good things associated with God's birthday, while at the same time claiming (lying to themselves) he doesn't exist.

  I would never ask an atheist (or anyone else) to not celebrate Christmas. Perhaps they well meet Jesus in someone's smile, gift or kindness and ask him to restore their sanity.

  21 years ago, my parents wanted to come visit. So, I said sure come on over. My girlfriend and I had just put up my first Christmas tree.

  They came over and stayed for several hours and never said a word about the Christmas tree in the corner. We said goodbye at the appropriate time, we both waved as they were driving off. I pretty much never heard from them again.

  Jesus made several promises to his friends in this kind of situation. Over the past 20 years, he has lived up to all of his promises to me, and exceeded them.

  i just watched youtube warwick pimo -2 videos which i will link if you care to watch them for context.

  he shows clips of various people starting to get involved in various religions and they are all saying basically the same thing- a feeling coming over them and that is how they knew they had found the truth...very interesting!

  the first experiences are of jw, but other religions follow if you watch the 2 videos.

  The bible says that "They become fools who worship the creation rather than the Creator" (Romans 1:22). In other words, part of human nature prohibits a relationship with the Creator. People are scared of him like Adam and Eve were after breaking fellowship with him. Fear set it.

  In other words, it is not so much that people refuse to worship God, as it is that they cannot worship God.... unless God personally draws them.

  So to compensate, people worshipped dead leaders for imagined psychological safety reasons. It is truly irrational, because they are all dead. What advantage is that? Who in their right mind would worship a dead person?

  Buddah is dead, Muhammad is dead, Wiccan worships nature which is in a state decay and will die, Lao Tzu is dead, Confucious is dead, As many as seventy ancient authors mention Zeus’s tomb in Crete, so he's dead, Joseph Smith is dead... They're all dead!

  Jesus is the only one who made it out of the tomb. He was born to do this very thing. It's the fundamental reason people became Christian. It is a living faith, because Jesus is still alive.

  Instead of emotion, Christians have facts of history. It is a reasonable faith.

  Where is Tony?

  on february 22, 2023, anthony morris iii was officially removed from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

  a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.

  in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

  Probably just hanging at the local Masonic lodge. I don’t think they meet on Sundays which is when Tony is known to make his hooch runs. So, it kinda works for him.

  He will probably also be seen down at the VA as well since he was former military; before he became one of the kings of the earth.

  Now he just rules over his lawn like everybody else.

  well--in my culture we refrain from standing waist deep in cold water blowing ducks to bits.

  Shooting ducks is somewhat incidental to the experience. It's more about comradery, enduring hardship, observing nature while the sun rises, enjoying the quiet without social media or televsion, and learning how the world works outside the domain of men.

  Although, they do have a Vietnamese friend that informed them that Americans simply do not know how to properly prepare duck. From what I understand, they are looking forward to their friends asian duck recipie.

  Stan, I realize what a shock it is to some folks when observing freedoms of others. It was one of the things that helped me to see what a mental prison the WT was.

  Perhaps it's hobbies like this that kids need. I grew up isiolated, scared, and powerless. It has taken a lifetime to try and reverse what my parents did to me. As JW's we were taught to run and hide in fear. My son is growing up confident, educated, and in control of his strength.

  While in university studying engineering, my son and some of his fellow students got up at 5am a few days ago and went to a reeded area on the coast and stood in cold waist deep water for hours duck hunting.

  It is equally hard for me to imagine a culture where stuff like this is not commonplace.

  i am an elder but i don’t remember this one, perhaps it is only for some areas?.

  RATHER, ELDERS SHOULD BE GUIDED BY SCRIPTURAL PRINCIPLES AND ASSESS EACH CASE ON ITS OWN MERITS.

  whilst I know that we come from a different culture, to us in Britain the whole idea of presenting a teenager with such a thing is…. Well, scary.

  Meet Audie Murphy, the most decorated war hero in US history. He grew up shooting squirrels out of trees, huntng doves, & rabbits, and picking cotton. He's from Texas, as are most military special forces personnel I'm told.
  
  

  
  

  In northern Europe, Murphy made a name for himself. Some of the highlights of his actions are near Ramatuelle, France, where a group of German soldiers appeared to surrender, only to kill his best friend. Murphy then advanced under direct machine gun fire on the structure they occupied and wounded two of them, killed six, and took 11 prisoner.

  Soon after, he earned a Silver Star for taking out an enemy machine gun position, killing four Germans and wounding three near the L’Omet quarry. In the same place three days later, he advanced alone and under heavy fire on a hill with a radio and directed his men for an hour.

  When his unit caught up to him, they found Murphy alone, surrounded by 15 dead Germans and 35 wounded. His actions earned him a battlefield commission.

  Murphy’s most famous action was the one that earned him the Medal of Honor at the age of 19 in January 1945. During a routine advance near Holtzwihr, France, Murphy and his men were moving forward aboard an M-10 tank destroyer that took a direct hit from enemy fire, disabling it. He ordered his men to withdraw to a patch of nearby woods as he stayed in place with a field telephone to direct artillery fire. All the while, enemy forces continued to pour heavy fire on his position. His Medal of Honor citation details the heavy enemy casualties inflicted by American artillery. Nevertheless, German forces continued their attack, advancing on Murphy from three sides. Ignoring the grave danger, he climbed atop his burning M-10 — in danger of exploding at any moment — and began firing at the enemy with the vehicle’s .50-caliber machine gun, killing dozens of Germans and thwarting the attack.

  Murphy held his position, and later killed an entire German squad attempting to flank his position at a distance as close as 10 yards away. According to reports, when asked how close the Germans were to his position, he said, “Just hold the phone and I’ll let you talk to one of the bastards!”
